Job Summary/Objective:
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the management of the personnel and activities engaged in buying, selling, distributing materials, equipment, machinery and supplies. The Manager will undertake assigned projects relating to procurement and provide summaries, reports and recommendations on these subjects.

Uses independent judgment and exercises discretion in executing their duties. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality.

Essential Functions:
Coordinate the company's purchasing personnel and activities.
Establish purchasing practices and procedures according to company policy and objective.
Responsible for supporting manufacturing operations with a sound and accurate supply chain program.
Work with local purchasing personnel to ensure raw materials are available at the lowest cost to meet manufacturing needs.
Assume leadership role in working with key internal company personnel in order to establish sound and effective purchasing strategies.
Work with Sales and Manufacturing to find new raw materials and/or alternative raw materials to meet customer needs.
May act as lead negotiator and coordinator in corporate purchasing plans. Responsibility includes initiating, directing and maintaining both short and long-term company goals internationally.
Maintain and follow supply chain procedures to conform to all regulatory agencies and company policies.
Select and develop suppliers, assess supplier capabilities, develop alternative sources, evaluate supplier performance, negotiate price and delivery within established corporate guidelines.
Execute legal purchase orders and contracts within established corporate terms and conditions.
Ensure continuity of supply at lowest total cost considering quality, delivery, service and price.
Direct the establishment of standard cost for purchased materials and review for variance performance.
Manage and control a narrow supplier base consistent with business requirements.
Direct and coordinate special projects as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in related area, MBA preferred, and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Prefer experience in supply chain, purchasing, budgeting, finance or accounting.
At least 3 years of leadership experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead a team who manages a diverse and complex portfolio of purchase materials and assemblies. From resale driven aftermarket parts to high-dollar engineered assemblies, the Supply Chain Manager develops partnerships with the supply base to optimally manage cost, quality, and supplier delivery. Possesses strong leadership qualities, develops the staff, and implements strategic sourcing initiatives. This is a working manager position including the execution of purchase orders and personally managing critical or underperforming suppliers.

REPORTING STRUCTURE AND KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports To:  Director of Operations
Key Internal Partners:  Planning, Manufacturing, Accounting, and Quality

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement sourcing strategies, tools, and programs focused on achieving organization's goals.
Design and execute key performance indicators to monitor department's performance and take corrective actions to mitigate risks and issues.
Develop supplier specific strategies in accordance with organization's vision and work with internal stakeholders to develop vendor compliance programs.
Design vendor inventory programs and provide demand planning information to critical vendors.
Research and develop new supply sources and manage existing vendor relationships.
Develop, document, and maintain supply chain, procurement and inventory management standard operating procedures.
Work with plant personnel to optimize inventories and increase turns while applying lean principles.
Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop supply chain staff functioning as a change leader.
Manage day-to-day sourcing activities including gathering quotations, analyzing bids, negotiating supply programs, and recommending supplier allocations for the procurement of materials, supplies, tools and services.
Actively manage creation and presentation of various standard and ad hoc performance reports.
Monitor cost effectiveness by reviewing transactions for correct pricing, adherence to agreement terms and regulation of supplier performance. Recommend and implement best cost savings initiatives to capitalize on positive trends.
Drive success in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with suppliers, internal customers, peers, and senior management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree in related field. Engineering-technical background a plus.
8-10 years procurement and materials management experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong analytical skills and Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (full proficiency in MS Excel)
Knowledge of Production and Inventory Control functions.
Experience utilizing an ERP system (Syteline preferred)
Strong Project Management skills

 DESIRED:

Certified in Production and/or Inventory Management (APICS/CPIM)
Experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment, mechanical components, sheet metal and electronics from blue prints and catalogues.
Proven track record of cost savings and implementation of modern supply chain management approaches such as JIT, lean manufacturing, and Vendor Managed Inventory
Solid understanding of cost accounting, cash flow, and inventory turns

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Approximately 20% travel required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
Work environment includes front-office and manufacturing.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
